ANN ARBOR — Michigan didn’t score 100 points and failed to win by at least 30. That qualifies as a surprise for the Wolverines these days.
They still put up big numbers Tuesday and won easily, 89-61 over Villanova at Crisler Center. Michigan improved to 9-0 with yet another dominant performance that left another opposing coach in awe.
Willard on Wolverines
Villanova arrived in Ann Arbor with seven Quad 4 wins (the weakest type, per the NET rankings) and a close loss to BYU. Kevin Willard is coaching a talented team at a storied program. None of that mattered Tuesday. The Wolverines used an early 11-0 run to grab a 21-7 lead. They’d add 15-0 and 12-0 runs to take a 30-point lead into halftime.
“Everyone talks about their offense, but everything’s predicated off their defense,” Willard
