LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule confirmed a pair of assistant coach hires on Tuesday. Rob Aurich is the Huskers’ new defensive coordinator, while Geep Wade takes over as Nebraska’s offensive line coach.
Aurich is an up-and-coming assistant who quickly turned around San Diego State’s defense. The Aztecs ranked among the national leaders allowing less than 13 points per game this fall.
Rhule described Aurich as an energetic coach whose players take an aggressive mindset on the field. Nebraska’s third-year head coach said Aurich visited Lincoln this weekend and had an unconventional interview, which included joining Rhule at a youth girls basketball game.
Nebraska cornerback Andrew Marshall played for Aurich at Idaho. Rhule approached Marshall to inquire about Aurich
