TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - The man who was arrested following a standoff and shooting involving the Tifton Police Department (TPD) on Friday, Dec. 5 was found dead in the Coffee County Jail on Dec. 8, according to reporting from Douglas Now.

The man is Davy Deonte Royal, a 35-year-old, according Douglas Now.

On Dec. 9, CCSO announced that an inmate had died on the evening of Dec. 8 after being found unresponsive in the jail.

Royal died at the Coffee Regional Medical Center after medical professionals attempted to perform life-saving treatments.
