WFAN host Evan Roberts delivered a sharp criticism of New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns following closer Edwin Diaz’s decision to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers .

Roberts blamed Stearns’ negotiating approach for allowing Diaz to reach free agency and ultimately join the defending World Series champions.

“You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes,” Roberts said in a clip shared on X/Twitter . “When you dance around, and you get cute with contracts, and you get cute with negotiations, and you allow someone to get to free agency, and you allow someone to dance with the two-time defending World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers ... this could happen. So you’re damn right I blame David Stearns.”

The radio host questioned Stearns’ tenure with the organization
