Reckless presidential policies resulting in more lost lives

The murder of Guardswoman Sarah Beckstrom near the White House by suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal is a tragedy. It’s made even more senseless by one undeniable reality: Neither should have been there.

Lakanwal is an Afghan national who helped the CIA during the Afghanistan war. In 2020, Donald Trump struck a deal that released 5,000 Taliban fighters. This led to that group seizing control during the U.S. withdrawal. Lakanwal and many others who’d helped our country had to flee for their lives.
