COLUMBUS, Ohio - A decision by a legislative body in Columbus will keep Ohio from looking like Michigan, where signage touts that state’s marijuana dispensaries and cannabis products.
A divided Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review on Monday approved a rule for the Division of Cannabis Control rule that bans advertisements of recreational marijuana dispensaries in Ohio on billboards, radio, television or the internet and in stadiums and arenas.
The committee’s divided decision comes despite opposition from the Outdoor Advertising Association of Ohio, which warns that the rule will hurt business and could violate companies’ First Amendment rights to communicate with the public.
