State pensioners may see a change in their tax code , HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has said. The tax department explained its rules after an enquiry from a person who is due to start receiving their state pension from February 2026.
The soon-to-be pensioner reached out to HMRC via social media, as they believed they would need to notify the tax department of the increase in their income. They stated: "I can see my two personal pensions in my account but can't see how to add the state pension so my tax code is adjusted."
Currently, the full new state pension stands at £230.25 per week, with rates set to rise by 4.8 percent next April, taking the total weekly amount to £241.30. State pension payments are increa
