Desmond Ferguson, founder of Moneyball Sportswear and Lansing’s Moneyball Pro-Am, is starting a basketball league for adults who still have a desire to compete at more than a casual rec-league or pickup-game level.
The Moneyball State Championship will run weekends from Jan. 31 through Feb. 28. The idea is to have at least eight teams in each of four cities — Lansing, Detroit, Flint and Grand Rapids — playing four weekends, with the top two teams from each city reaching the championship weekend, which will be played on the final day of February at Lansing Eastern High School.
