CORBETT, Ore. — Heavy rain left its mark on both sides of the metro Tuesday, as flooding triggered evacuations and forced several road closures.
At Oxbow Park along the Sandy River, camper Christine Blackwelder said a park ranger tapped on her tent Tuesday morning and told her she needed to evacuate immediately.
“When a ranger tells you what to do, you definitely listen,” Blackwelder said. “He said the river was actually covering the road by the park entrance and to evacuate — like, now.”
Blackwelder said she had been camping at Oxbow since Sunday and that the weather had been relatively calm until conditions changed overnight.
