Police have issued an update after a schoolboy was taken to hospital on Tuesday after he was hit by a car. Emergency services were called to Childwall Valley Road near Lidl in Belle Vale on Tuesday (December 9) at around 7.30am following the incident.

The boy was checked over by North West Ambulance Service and was later taken to hospital. In an update Merseyside Police said the boy suffered "serious" injuries, however they are not believed to be life-changing. The driver stopped at the scene and is helping Police with enquiries.

Merseyside Police cordoned off Childwall Valley Road at the junction with Chelwood Avenue. The surrounding area was also closed while emergency services dealt with the incident. I
