The City of Prattville officially opened its newest downtown park with a Christmas tree lighting event Tuesday night.
The ribbon cutting for Spillway Park , at the intersection of Court and Fourth streets, was Dec. 9.
The open space offers views of the mill pond and dam as well as the historic Gin Shop building complex, downtown's iconic landmarks. It's where the city has displayed the Christmas tree for several years and is home to community concerts, as well as holiday celebrations. The park has covered pavilions, restrooms and other improvements including a mill pond overlook.
The cost of the park is about $5.39 million.
The park is the base for the city’s Christmas celebration, including a carousel, an ice skating rink, food trucks and the venue for concerts. State Christmas Tr
