Two teenage girls, Ellen Kambwemba, 19, and Esther, 15, from Muonda Village, T/A Chapananga in Chikwawa, were struck by lightning while guarding maize fields from livestock.

Chikwawa Police spokesperson Dickson Matemba confirmed the incident, saying the girls were in the field when it started raining and lightning struck, killing them instantly.

ReThey were rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed their deaths.
