What is the Bloomington Severe Winter Emergency Shelter?
The shelter, which is hosted at three downtown churches, provides “a warm, safe place to sleep to people who might not have any shelter during severe winter weather.” The shelter usually operates when “weather conditions become dangerous,” when temperatures fall to 25 degrees or below or to 35 degrees or below with precipitation.
The National Weather Service is forecasting slight chances of snow for much of the week, followed by a cold front that will bring Arctic temperatures and sub-zero wind chill.
