Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday issued a clarification regarding receiving the Veer Savarkar Award in a post on X. In his post the Congress leader claimed, "I am not going to accept this award. I came to know about it only through media reports while I was in Kerala."

Tharoor, on the matter, claims that the organisers announced his name without asking him. In such a situation, there is no question of attending the event in Delhi.

However, contrary to the claims made by Shashi Tharoor, founder of the NGO The Hingrej Rural Development Society (HRDS) India, Aji Krishnan, who was supposed to present the award to Tharoor, has claimed that he had met him at his home a month ago and Tharoor had agreed to accept the award back then.
