Microsoft on Tuesday (December 9) announced a $17.5-billion investment in India over four years, the company’s largest commitment in Asia, aimed at expanding cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, skilling efforts and operations in the country between 2026 and 2029. The new funding comes on top of the $3 billion announced earlier this year, which Microsoft expects to fully deploy by the end of 2026.
The announcement followed a meeting between Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on December 9, where the two discussed India’s AI roadmap and growth priorities.
