ESOPUS – A 60-year-old Kingston man was killed in a two-car crash on the northbound Thruway in the Town of Esopus.

State Police said David Moyal was driving a Mercedes-Benz in the left lane at about 11:15 a.m. on Monday when he crashed into the rear of a 2003 Freightliner construction vehicle that was straddling the left shoulder and partially in the left lane as part of a construction operation.

It was one of several construction vehicles in place to divert traffic from the left to the right lane while a crew installed construction signage.

Moyal was pronounced dead at HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston.

The construction worker seated in the Freightliner was not injured.
