Starting Monday, area fourth graders will have the opportunity to become Toledo’s next Kid Mayor or Kid Council Member.

Thirteen students from Toledo Public Schools and Washington Local Schools will serve one-year terms.

The children will learn about local government by meeting with city officials, including the mayor, city council members, and other government representatives, officials said.

They will also participate in community projects, volunteer activities, and initiatives like the Litter League team and will learn how to present ideas by sharing proposals and projects to improve the community.
