UPDATE: One lane of I-24 Eastbound opened up in Dade County at around 7:15am Wednesday morning after a wrong-way driver died in a head-on collision with a semi-truck.

However, Tennessee authorities said I-24 would remain shut down at the Haletown exit in Guild, Tennessee.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking drivers heading east on I-24 to take exit 161 at Haletown and take Highway 41.

The head-on collision happened after the driver of a van traveled north on I-59 southbound, and then west onto I-24 Eastbound.

Authorities said the driver of the semi-truck is in critical condition.
