Dogs can't talk, but longtime pet expert Steve Dale is helping children and families understand what their pets are really trying to say with his new book, "Ask the Dog" .

The book teaches kids how to read a dog's behavior, stay safe, and strengthen their bond with their pets, while adults can learn a thing or two as well.

Dale appeared live on ABC7 Eyewitness News to share insights and safety tips, especially for the holiday season.
