NEW YORK ― With 10 seconds left, Florida basketball had a chance to tie its game against UConn.

The Gators forced a timely turnover with its full-court press as time dwindled in Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Boogie Fland was then set to inbound the ball, but was called for a five-second violation as the Bronx native failed to get a pass off, which sealed the Huskies’ 77-73 win over the Gators at the Jimmy V Classic. However, it was a call that Florida coach Todd Golden vehemently argued that the officials blew the whistle too early.

“I thought they called it early, man, to be honest,” Golden said. “I challenge everybody to time it and see what they come up with. We timed it in the locker room, and we got 4.6 and 4.7.
