A record-breaking kick, a player who set a WPIAL record for career yardage, tremendous individual performances and a team that dominated its way to a perfect record. Those are some of the memories from the 2025 high school football season in the WPIAL.

Let’s put a bow on the season with some awards and take a look back at some unforgettable moments and players.

Five for POY presentation: There’s the Heisman Trophy presentation. What if the Post-Gazette invited five for a Player of the Year presentation? If I were inviting the finalists, it would be McKeesport’s Kemon Spell, Peters Township’s Reston Lehman, Avonworth’s Luca Neal, Pine-Richland’s Kahlil Taylor and Fort Cherry’s Matt Sieg. The P-G will reveal its POY Sunday, and I won’t give it away.
