Few girls basketball teams in the area have enjoyed as much success as Blackhawk over the past three years.

With 77 wins, two PIAA championship appearances and another state championship banner raised during that span, the Cougars have upheld their tradition as one of the top public school programs in all of Pennsylvania — even after longtime coach Steve Lodovico stepped down and handed the reins to former Beaver coach Greg Huston in 2023.

And yet, an empty feeling still lingers for Huston — and especially for his seniors who have competed in three consecutive WPIAL Class 4A championship games, only to leave with tears in their eyes and silver medals around their necks on all three occasions.
