FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Newly released 911 calls are giving the public its first glimpse into the chaos that unfolded during Tuesday’s deadly shooting on the campus of Kentucky State University, as police identify the suspect now charged with murder and first-degree assault.
Police say the suspect, 48-year-old Jacob Lee Bard of Evansville, Indiana, was arrested and charged after one student was killed and another was critically injured in the shooting near the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Hall residence hall.
In one 911 call, a caller can be heard reporting, “We have an active shooter at the Young building. I think they have them detained.” The call continues by saying emergency responders were attempting to evacuate two victims from the scene.
