ESPN is releasing a new "30 for 30" documentary on Stuart Scott, the late, trailblazing SportsCenter anchor who helped redefine modern sports broadcasting.
"Boo-Yah!" will premiere Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN and the ESPN app.
As cool as the other side of the pillow, Scott was born in Chicago and became one of the most recognizable voices on SportsCenter. He was known for catchphrases like "boo-yah!" and "hallah!"
Scott was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 during an appendectomy and briefly went into remission before being diagnosed again in 2011 and 2013. He was honored at the ESPY awards in 2014 and died less than six months later in 2015 at 49 years old, in Avon, CT.
According to ESPN, "Boo-Yah!" follows Scott’s rise from local North Carolina TV to becoming one of the network’s most influential voices, bringing hip-hop, pop culture, and a bold new style to SportsCenter. It features commentary from athletes, colleagues, and Scott’s family.
The premiere aligns with V Week for Cancer Research and includes a new merchandise collection benefiting the V Foundation’s Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund, ESPN says.
