Aldi has unveiled plans for a new £7 million store on the outskirts of Herne Bay.

The discount food retailer wants to launch the supermarket at Altira Park, near Broomfield.

If approved, it would open on land next to the new David Lloyd leisure club and a short distance from a large Sainsbury’s store.

Aldi already operates a branch in Herne Bay town centre and has begun a public consultation on the new development.

The retailer says the scheme would improve access to its products for people living in the town and neighbouring areas.

Its existing supermarket in Kings Road would remain open.
