Godfrey Banda, 24, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison at Chikwatula Prison in Ntchisi District after being found guilty of stealing a goat in Mponela, Dowa District.

In court, prosecutor Evance Banda said the offence was committed on December 4 this year while the goat’s owner was in the garden.

Second Grade Magistrate Frank Njilayafa said he imposed the sentence to serve as a warning to others who might commit similar crimes.
