Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday invited Russian President Vladimir Putin for an official state visit, joking that India shouldn’t be the only country he travels to.

The two leaders met in Moscow, the second time they have met this year in Russia. Prabowo hailed the “excellent" state of relations and invited the Russian leader to come to Indonesia “at your convenience" by 2026 or 2027, referring to Putin’s recent visit to India.

“Using this opportunity, I would like to invite you to visit Indonesia at your convenience. Maybe it could happen in 2026 or 2027. We would be very happy to receive you in our country. Because, India should not be the only country where you travel," he said, drawing laughter from Putin.
