Haldwani : The people of Banbhulpura in Haldwani are waiting anxiously for December 16. On this day, the Supreme Court will give its final decision about the removal of encroachments from railway land. This case has become very important because nearly 50,000 people live in this area.

The matter started in 2016 when social activist Ravi Shankar Joshi filed a public interest litigation in the High Court. Later, in 2021, the Additional District Judge of Haldwani dismissed 33 appeals against eviction notices issued by the North Eastern Railway. The court ordered that the encroachments must be removed.
