India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held discussions with the European Union’s Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Maroš Šefčovič, in New Delhi on 8-9 December to provide strategic guidance to their negotiating teams as both sides work toward concluding the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) at the earliest. The visit came against the backdrop of technical discussions held from 3-9 December in New Delhi across key chapters of the proposed FTA, including Market Access for Goods, Rules of Origin, Services, Technical Barriers to Trade, and Trade and Sustainable Development.
Šefčovič’s visit was preceded by high-level discussions on 7 December between India’s Commerce Secretary and the Director-General for Trade at the European Commission, underscoring the shared commitment
