New Delhi: Consumers like me often wonder how many companies actually have our consent to send promotional messages. We usually forget what we signed at a branch or inside a store years ago. Now that everything is digital, those old paper forms and random checkboxes have created a mess. We often get SMS alerts about personal loans from a bank that we never remember giving permission to.

TRAI and RBI have now taken the lead to fix this. They want to give people a clear way to view and take control of these old permissions we once gave without thinking too much about it.
