A Grammy-nominated singer has been stabbed to death.
Jubilant Sykes, a 71-year-old baritone known for his work in gospel and opera, was found dead at his home in Santa Monica on Dec. 7, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Santa Monica Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
His son, 31-year-old Micah Sykes, was taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of homicide, police said.
“Jubilant’s remarkable artistry touched millions, and his voice was rightly described as ‘art at its highest expression,” ACM 360 Artists President David Thomas said in a statement to USA Today.
“Jubilant’s deep Christian faith perspective was the foundation of all that he was, and he will be greatly missed.”
