The Food and Drug Administration says 11,136 bottles of a blood pressure medication sold under the brand name Ziac have been recalled. New Jersey-based Glenmark Pharmaceuticals recalled the medication after testing of reserve samples showed the presence of traces of ezetimibe.
Ezetimibe is a medication used to treat high cholesterol, not blood pressure.
The recall applies to bisoprolol fumarate and hydrochlorothiazide tablets that are labeled as Ziac. The recall involves 2.5 mg and 6.25 mg doses that were distributed in the following packages:
30-count bottles NDC-68462-878-30
100-count bottle NDC-68462-878-01
500-count bottles NDC-68462-878-05
