A new slate of festive and reflective music arrived early this holiday season.

In the tradition of Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song” and Louisiana's Vince Vance & the Valiants' and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” some of these fresh yuletide lyrics and melodies may become perennials.

This year’s new songs include country star Lainey Wilson’s “Peace, Love, & Cowboys (Holiday Edition),” Willie Nelson’s “Christmas Love Song” and Norah Jones’ duet with Leon Bridges, “This Christmas I’m Coming Home.”

Also on Santa’s playlist are albums by the traditional jazz musicians of New Orleans’ Preservation Hall, 90-year-old trumpet star Herb Alpert, and a cappella group Straight No Chaser (with Acadiana singers Hunter Hayes and Marc Broussard).
