Family and friends of Adam Hegarty gathered for his funeral mass at St. Colman’s Church Shinn on Wednesday morning.
At the beginning of the service Adam’s loved ones offered gifts representing his love for his family, sport, farming and work as an electrician.
Adam had been in Carlingford celebrating his birthday just hours after scoring a try for City of Armagh rugby when a complication with his Type 1 Diabetes led to his untimely death.
The mass was led by Canon John Kearney.
The priest praised Adam’s ambition, saying he was someone who “always pushed himself to be better” in life.
Rev Kearney described Adam as a very popular young man.
