The word "calendar" has been thrown around a lot lately in the college sports world. Not because we'll all be needing new, 2026 versions next month, but because of how the metaphorical college football calendar is currently set up.
The talk of the CFB world the last couple weeks has been the departure of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin to be the new head coach at LSU. Kiffin ditched the Rebels even as they are about to embark on what was/will be the program's first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.
Many have brushed aside Kiffin's in-season betrayal of his own players in favor of blaming the calendar. With the early signing period on Dec. 3 and plenty of less-spoken-about tampering to be done ahead of the transfer portal's opening on Jan. 2, Kiffin supposedly had to leave
