As people are celebrating the holiday season, state and local law enforcement agencies are hoping they won't get behind the wheel after that last glass of eggnog.
Various agencies have announced plans to take part in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Drive Sober or Get Pulled over campaign from Friday through Jan. 1.
The winter holidays are among the most dangerous times of the year for motorists due to traffic crashes involving drunk drivers, according to a news release from the Arkansas State Police.
Between 2019 and 2023, 4,931 people were killed across the nation in December crashes involving an impaired driver, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data shows. In December 2023 alone, 1,038 people lost their lives in alcohol-related crashes nationwide --
