Things are moving fast inside the Indianapolis Colts ’ building, and the quarterback situation has taken an unexpected turn. After bringing NFL legend Philip Rivers out of retirement, the team has made another surprising roster shake-up for their QB2 position.

“The Colts signed QB Brett Rypien and K Blake Grupe from the practice squad to the active roster,” NFL Network ’s Tom Pelissero wrote on X .

According to Pelissero, head coach Shane Steichen’s Colts have also placed cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. on injured reserve, besides the other two roster decisions involving Rypien and Grupe.

The decision comes after the team made it official on Wednesday that 44-year-old Rivers who last played for the Colts in 2020, is unretiring and rejoining the franchise, as reported by E
