A disagreement over what’s left to be fixed on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT led to a dispute between the province and the city at a private meeting over when the long-awaited light-rail line should open.

According to sources who were debriefed on the Dec. 5 meeting, Metrolinx pushed for an opening date at the end of December, while the TTC eyed a start date of Feb. 8.

The sources spoke to the Star about the meeting on the condition of anonymity as they weren’t authorized to share the information publicly.

At that meeting, there were technical disagreements about what was left to resolve to ensure a safe and operational opening, the sources said, and how quickly the remaining issues can be solved, including both software and infrastructure-related problems.
