A meetup for the sale of a Rolex watch turned deadly in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood, leaving a 16-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man shot to death, police announced on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Officers from the 39th District were called to the 500 block of West Queen Lane at 5:11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, for reports of a person with a gun and shots fired, according to a release issued by the Philadelphia Police Department on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
When officers arrived, they found 30-year-old Tyree Ware lying beside the open driver’s door of his 2016 silver Nissan Maxima. He had been shot multiple times and was taken by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:34 p.m., police said. A 9mm handgun was recovered next to Ware.
The second victim, identified as 16-year-old Quaneef Lee, was found behind the same vehicle with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was also taken to Temple University Hospital and was pronounced dead at 5:42 p.m., according to the release.
Ware had recently advertised a Rolex for sale online and drove to the location to meet Lee and another unidentified male, detectives said. The transaction escalated into a robbery, leading to the deadly exchange of gunfire, investigators announced.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing under the Homicide Unit. No arrests have been made.
