SCOTS who provide care for more than one disabled person could receive in excess of £500 more in support thanks to a new benefit payment coming in next year.
The carer additional person payment is due to come in from March 2026, paying out to those providing support to more than one relative or loved one.
The payment, which will be worth up £520 a year, is the latest in a series of changes by Social Security Scotland to improve support for unpaid carers.
Speaking about the measures, Social Justice Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said: “We’re making changes to benefits for carers to recognise the important contribution they make and to help ease some of the pressures that can come with a caring role.
