A teenager was hospitalized after being shot while driving in Delaware on Tuesday night, according to the state police .

This all unfolded before 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 when a 17-year-old was driving a Nissan Altima along State Route 299 with two other teens in the car, police explained.

As the teens got onto the ramp to take Route 1 southbound, a dark-colored sedan drove around the teens and someone inside the car opened fire at them, according to troopers.

The 17-year-old driver was hit one time by the gunfire and the Nissan got hit several times, police explained. The two teen passengers inside the Nissan were not hurt.
