In a clarification note to the RSS-backed trade union Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) on Wednesday (December 10, 2025), the Union Labour Ministry said the social security schemes for unorganised workers, run both by the Centre and the States, would remain unchanged after the implementation of the four Labour Codes.
Several Central trade unions had raised concerns on the future of social security schemes for unorganised workers, such as construction workers and beedi workers as Acts governing their welfare schemes are merged into the Codes.
