Judge calls out man for intimate partner violence

A lifelong Norfolk man who was convicted of violence against a fourth woman was called a “ticking time bomb” by a judge who sentenced him to prison.

“There’s no excuse for putting your hands on a woman,” Justice Elizabeth Wilson told Anthony Margetan, 27, “but putting your hands on four separate women and, in this case, choking one of them, threatening to beat her and destroy her property? Well, you are, in my view, a ticking time bomb and I worry about any future intimate partner you have.”

Margetan pleaded guilty in court recently to assault with choking, threatening death or bodily harm and threatening damage to property. Several other assault charges were withdrawn.
