If Santa needed backup in the gift-giving department, he would have found it at Walmart last night.
Cub Scouts from Maricopa’s Troop 389 spent an hour shopping at the store on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, picking out gifts for 30 Angel Tree recipients. The trip offered a chance to give back and helped the young Scouts practice confidence in giving.
“I like that we’re helping other people,” said Tanner Tappia, a 9-year-old who has been in Cub Scouts for three years.
He and his shopping partner, 7-year-old Samuel Stanley, were assigned a 7-year-old girl and given a $50 budget for clothing and toys.
“I just love helping others,” Samuel said before he started shopping.
