Following her historic win in Tuesday night's Miami mayoral runoff election , Eileen Higgins outlined her agenda.
“It feels heavy," Higgins said. "I know that people are expecting a lot from the City of Miami, and I promise to go to work every day."
Miami Mayor-elect Eileen Higgins on Wednesday said the election's results show that Miami decided to take a different direction.
She wants a city hall that gets things done and where residents are treated as customers.
And making housing affordable is one of her top priorities.
“Right now, it takes two years to permit a project to build, let’s say a hundred affordable or workforce units," she said. "It can take two years less to build that project. The bureaucracy can not last longer than the construction.”
