LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Louisville Metro Housing Authority reports almost all of the 578 residents of the run-down towers at Dosker Manor have now been moved out, and into better housing. When that job is complete, the three apartment towers will be demolished.

After living in Dosker Manor for three years, the first thing Paul Jones, 66, wanted to do in his clean new apartment was look out the window.

“It’s nice,” Jones said smiling. “It’s nice.”

Relocated to a ground-floor apartment in the Algonquin neighborhood, Jones said goodbye to unreliable elevators, and fearing for his safety when he ventured outside.

Jones is one of the last of more than 500 Dosker Manor residents to be relocated in less than 17 months. Forty still remain, about half have not made plans to move.
