With respiratory virus season upon us, local hospitals are encouraging the public to mask up when visiting.
Windsor Regional Hospital says it recommends visitors wear a hospital-issued mask when they're within two metres of patients. Other than for symptomatic patients, masking is not required in non-clinical areas like lobbies and waiting areas.
The hospital said, however, that masking is "highly recommended" for visitors and patients in waiting rooms and lounges in more high risk areas, including dialysis, the emergency room and cancer centre.
Masks will be provided at hospital entrances.
