SEATTLE — Emergency officials are warning drivers to avoid flooded roadways amid heavy rainfall and flooding across the region due to a strong atmospheric river.

If you are driving near flooded areas, it's important to plan ahead and never drive through water over the roadway or around road barriers.

Multiple rescues, some of them dramatic have been reported across the region of people who drove into floodwaters and were stranded.

Central Pierce Fire & Rescue said Thursday their crews have responded to over 25 rescues alone.
