LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Representative Morgan McGarvey has renewed his push to reintroduce the Justice for Breonna Taylor Act in Washington.
The bill would require officers to identify themselves and their purpose before serving a warrant.
Taylor was killed when LMPD officers shot into her apartment during a raid in 2020.
The officers at the scene say they did announce themselves, but Taylor’s boyfriend, who was there and fired at police, claims they didn’t.
McGarvey was joined by lawmakers and Breonna Taylor’s mother at a press conference in Washington on Wednesday, Dec. 10, calling for the ban.
“No mother should ever have to experience that call, that pain, or kind of loss,” said Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer. “No-knock warrants are dangerous. They create confusion, escalate fear,
