OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - After the fall of the Afghan government four years ago, many who worked with the United States government and armed forces had to leave their homeland for security reasons. Many relocated in the metro area.
A moment Habib Rahmani has been waiting for, for years. A home for him and his family. To replace the home, they had to leave behind.
“In 2021 the Taliban took over Afghanistan and Habib who bravely served alongside the U.S. military as guard on a U.S. base faced a moment that no one should have to face. The choice between staying in the home he knew or protecting the lives of the people he loved,” said Lacey Studnicka with Habitat Omaha.
“Because of the service to our country his family became a target and so the fled and they began again,” Studnicka said.
